A quiet storm frozen in clay. This striking, modern vase is wheel-thrown with clean, slightly tapered lines and then boldly painted by hand: thick, glossy black glaze is poured over the rim and allowed to cascade downward in dramatic, unpredictable drips that fade into raw matte white clay below. A few delicate black tendrils reach almost to the base, like ink dropped into water.
The contrast is crisp and unapologetic—deep obsidian against bright white—yet the organic drips give it raw, painterly energy. The glossy black rim catches light like wet paint, while the lower matte white feels soft and chalky to the touch.
Perfect for a single dramatic stem, a handful of wildflowers, or simply standing alone as sculptural art. At just over 6 inches tall, it’s big enough to make a statement yet small enough to fit anywhere: shelf, mantel, bedside, or dining table centrepiece.
Handmade on Vancouver Island – thrown, painted, and fired with food-safe glazes (yes, it can hold water!). One of a kind.
